The madness continues with the news that the infamous docu-series will be turned into a mini series produced by Amazon Studios for their streaming service Amazon Prime.

The show will be centred around fan favourite Joe Exotic who will be played by none other than famous over-actor Nicolas Cage.

That’s right Hollywood’s busiest actor who has a whopping 50 plus movies listed as Rotten on review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes will be Joe Exotic.

Here over at Hatch after much discussion we have compiled the top 10 reasons why Nicolas Cage will be the perfect Joe Exotic.

1. Method acting disciple

Cage is undoubtedly one of the most unusual people on the planet. His career has spanned almost 40 years.

In that time various on set stories have come to light about the method of method acting that Cage is an advocate of.

For the film Birdy, Cage pulled out two teeth without anaesthetic in order to feel the pain of the Vietnam war veteran he was portraying.

He also took up the carnivore diet in order to gain weight for the crime-drama Joe. So expect similar levels of madness in order to portray the Tiger King.

2. The man has an Oscar

Regardless of whether you think he is a good actor or not, Cage has the credentials in the form of an Oscar for best actor in Leaving Las Vegas to prove that he can indeed act.

However we cannot forget Cage has also been nominated for Golden Raspberry awards.

The Razzies, for those unfamiliar with the ceremony, are basically the Oscars for bad films and acting, and Cage has nine of them.

3. Playing eccentric maniacs is his speciality

H.I. McDunnough in Raising Arizona, Peter Loew in Vampires Kiss. These are just two of the roles that highlight his ability to portray Joe Exotic effortlessly.

Do yourself a favour and watch Cage recite the entire alphabet in Vampires Kiss. It is undoubtedly the best piece of over acting in his filmography.

4. He has acted in 20 movies since 2018

The man clearly loves acting. He is probably the busiest actor in Hollywood.

Acting in both major Hollywood and independent films all year round, Cage clearly never takes time off and accepts all roles.

Let’s hope he brings that love for acting to his portrayal of Exotic.

5. Cage is basically Joe Exotic

Cage has lived a life full of crippling debt, legal issues, tax evasion and failed marriages.

Similar to Joe Exotic who has lived a life full of crippling debt, legal issues, tax evasion and failed marriages.

This series will basically be a scene for scene retelling of Cage’s life.

6. Cage refuses to be typecast

Being typecast is an actor’s worst nightmare. Cage refuses to play the same character more than once.

He can play a father, murderer, police officer or even a convicted felon. Funnily enough he has played all these roles. So Joe Exotic should be a walk in the park.

7. Has purchased wild animals as pets

Much like Exotic, Cage has the tendency to buy animals that humans maybe shouldn’t own. No sadly he hasn’t purchased any tigers.

However Cage according to CNBC currently owns an octopus, and has previously owned a shark and crocodile which he kept at his home.

8. Has previously rocked a mullet

To be Joe Exotic you need a mullet. Luckily for us in 1997 for the ridiculous action/thriller Con Air, Cage rocked the most amazing mullet to grace cinema screens.

Meeting the mullet credential is crucial. Since we know Cage can pull off a mullet. Casting him as Exotic is undoubtedly the correct decision.

9. Has attempted a southern accent before

The film that gave us the iconic mullet, Con Air, also gave us the ironically bad southern accent.

Yes that’s right, Cage has the worst southern accent on the planet. The point is he attempted the accent. With practice maybe he can pull it off.

10. Constantly reinvents the art of acting

Acting hasn’t changed much since the days of Marlon Brando and Kirk Douglas. Actors generally do their job and get paid.

Cage is the jazz musician of acting. He feels the scene going somewhere and takes a hold of it and makes it his own. Which is exactly what the role of Joe Exotic should encompass.

Nicolas Cage is by far the wackiest actor on the planet. Luckily Joe Exotic is the wackiest human being on the planet.

Perfect casting doesn’t happen often. However you can bet everything you have that Cage will win over audiences and critics once the Tiger King series debuts.
