It’s the first day of winter and if you’re feeling the chill, don’t worry, we’ve got your back.
Here are Hatch’s top 10 winter tips to stay warm over winter without breaking the bank.
To warm up your belly and your tastebuds, wrap your cold lips around a hot chocolate, complete with whipped cream and marshmallows. Koko Black on George Street has the best hot chocolate in Sydney, IMO.
You’re already dressed for the occasion so why not step out for a wintery outdoor adventure at an ice-skating rink. The pop-up ice-skating rink at Sydney’s Cathedral Square offers beautiful views of St Mary’s Cathedral. If you’re stuck for date ideas, this is sure to impress – but don’t forget your hand warmers (see below).
Hand warmers – you’ll need these. And they come in all shapes and sizes. We’re calling it – mittens are making a comeback.
If you’d prefer to do something that doesn’t require too much energy or multiple layers of clothing, the Sydney Film Festival runs throughout June and gives you a great opportunity to take off your coat, relax and eat popcorn!
Dry skin in winter is something we all have to conquer, so get yourself a loofah and invest in a good thick moisturiser.
Or would you prefer a book, preferably curled up on the couch, or maybe in a cosy cafe? For the former, order online for convenience, or get out and enjoy getting lost amongst the book shelves at stores like Sappho Books in Glebe, which has three storeys of second-hand books to choose from.
Did someone say dessert? If you’re heading to the Vivid Light Festival, don’t forget to visit the Milk ‘N’ Sugar Dessert Market – only available June 8, 9 and 10, so get in quick.
OK, so this one’s not so fun. But we’re talking winter essentials, and if you want to stay well enough to enjoy the cold weather you may want to get a flu shot, particularly if you fall into an at-risk category.
And lastly, discover your inner Master Chef, and master that soup you have been meaning to make every winter and just never get around to.
